Antiflu, also known by its generic name oseltamivir, is an antiviral medication used to treat and prevent influenza (flu) in adults and children aged 1 year and older. When taken within 48 hours of symptom onset, Antiflu has been shown to reduce the duration of flu symptoms by about 1-2 days on average. It works by inhibiting the influenza virus from spreading within the body, thereby reducing the severity and duration of illness.
However, it’s important to note that Anti flu Medicine is not a cure for the flu and does not shorten the illness by more than a couple days. Additionally, Antiflu does not prevent complications of the flu such as pneumonia. The benefits of Antiflu are most pronounced when taken early in the course of illness. While Antiflu can provide some relief of flu symptoms, it is not a substitute for the influenza vaccine, which remains the best way to prevent flu infection and its complications. Antiflu should only be used under medical supervision and as prescribed by a doctor.
